“Playboy Mommy” by Tori Amos

Something you don’t really stop to consider when you’re a teenager in the ‘90s sharing a CD collection with your sibling is … eventually you’re going to lose half of that collection.

So it was when I, as the older sibling, went off to college and realized I suddenly didn’t have access to a lot of albums that were previously on heavy rotation in my life.¹

And that’s why I have a slightly skewed history with Tori Amos’ early discography.

Most people likely think of “Silent All These Years,” or all of Little Earthquakes, or “Cornflake Girl” as the obviously iconic Tori jams from the 1990s. But those were back at home, and the only Tori album I owned was From the Choirgirl Hotel.

So that got more airplay in my brain than any other, and it’s why “Playboy Mommy” is my song of choice from this A artist.

This one’s not only for my beloved sibling, who’s so much better at singing Tori than I am, but also for my bestie Joy, who requested a Tori tune for this project.
