4th of July Summer Party Live Ukulele Session
Because Nature is hilarious and loves a good cosmic wink, it gave me the first real heat wave of the summer just in time to do this 4th of July Summer Party live ukulele session! Come for the songs, stay to watch Casey’s brain melt down a few times.
Honestly, I’m surprised I didn’t short-circuit more, considering how all of my body’s systems basically power off when it’s this hot out. But the excitement of the set list I chose pulled me through!
If not for your precious time, I could have played summer party songs for an hour — I do have a playlist that long! — but I kept it tight.
The four songs in this set are:
- Miley Cyrus, “Party in the USA”
- Eric Church, “Springsteen”
- Bruce Springsteen, “Darlington County”
- Woody Guthrie, “This Land is Your Land”
And as I mentioned, last July I was struck with the brilliant idea to put “Springsteen” together with Taylor Swift’s “Tim McGraw, which you can watch here. The lyrical mirroring is incredible and uncanny, don’t you agree?
